Artist: Prithvi Shrestha
1.Where do you live in 2020? Please describe the place and the surrounding environment.
I stayed at home with my family at Kopondol, Lalitpur in Nepal. My house is in main road so during lockdown environment was calm and quite. My place was out of sound pollution clearly heard nature sound. Most of people left Kathmandu and went their own cities, Kathmandu was less populated and rest were in their own home, i found my city clean and green too. I can see only police in street for our security through my window .
1.2020这一年你生活在哪里？
我和我的家人呆在尼泊尔拉利特布尔的科蓬多。我的房子在主干道上，因此在封禁期间，这儿环境很平静。我住的地方完全没有噪音污染，可以清晰听到了大自然的声音。大多数人离开加德满都回自己家乡去了，加德满都人也少了很多，剩下的都待在家里。我发现我的城市也干净变绿了。透过我的窗户，我看到街上只有警察在保卫我们的安全。
2.How does the COVID-19 pandemic affect you personally in your country and its countermeasures?
As being artists, covid effect me as others. though i enjoy with my new born baby, i gave full time with my baby and family. this time was much caring time for them and i am satisfied. but I missed the art events. My country is developing country so this effect a lot specially for them who was paid as their daily based work. Also those who work in India they came back and stuck in boarder, they suffer a lot. I help my two Iran friends who stuck in lockdown and let them stayed in my space. Government locked effected are immediately and took more action to them those who came from abroad and after few weeks all airlines were stopped.
2 新冠疫情对你所在国家及其对策对你个人有什么影响？
我是一个艺术家，疫情对我的影响和其他人一样。但我也喜欢和我刚出生的孩子在一起，我把全部时间都花在了和我孩子和家人身上。这段时间在他们身上付出很多，我也很满足。但我错过了艺术活动。我的国家是一个发展中国家，所以这种影响特别大，尤其对那些为日常开销而工作的人们。还有那些在印度工作的人们，他们回来后被困在了寄宿点，他们遭受了很多痛苦。我帮助我的两个伊朗朋友，他们在封禁时期被困，我让他们在我的空间里呆了下来。政府立即采取行动，对那些从国外来的人采取了更多的行动，几周后所有的航空公司都停飞了。
3.Where is one of the places you enjoy most this year? How do you spend your time there? can you describe what it looks like?
I enjoy in home and my studio. I spend enough time there creating my art work and caring my family, nobody came to disturb me.

我喜欢在家里和工作室里。我花了足够的时间在我的艺术创作上还有照顾家人，没人来打扰我。
4.Where is the farthest place you have been this year?
I haven’t been to farthest place this year because of my new baby boy.

5.Who do you live with in 2020?
I live with my wife and baby.

6.How did the COVID-19 pandemic affect the way you work?
it’s true that my time was for my family but I create artwork too. my art travelling was postponed, some show was postponed. every year we organize art workshop and exhibitions through Bindu space for artists but this year we could not do so and organized virtual printmaking exhibition. this break time will highly effect to Nepal art scenario so somehow it will hamper on me too.
6 新冠大流行对你的工作方式产生了怎样的影响？
的确，我的时间都是为了我的家人，但我也创作艺术。我的艺术旅行被推迟了，一些展览被推迟。每年我们都会通过宾度空间为艺术家组织艺术工作坊和展览，但今年我们没法做，我们组织了虚拟版画展。这段停摆时期会对尼泊尔的艺术状况产生很大的影响，自然也会影响到我。
7.Has your work been promoted in some way?
Of course. I had attended in virtual art events. It was new for me.
7 你的工作是否获得了某种推进？
当然。我参加过虚拟艺术活动。对我来说这是新的方式。
8.Are you more anxious this year than in previous years? If so, how do you relieve your anxiety?
I am but it’s because of new situation, not only me lots of people were worried. Nepali art scenario is small and slowly it was lifting up but this covid 19 effect it and to rise art market it will take time and how long I don’t know.
8 这一年你是否比往年更焦虑？如果是，你是如何缓解焦虑的？
是的，但这是因为全新的状况，不仅我，很多人都担忧。尼泊尔艺术的前景很小，缓慢上升，但新冠疫情影响它和上升的艺术市场，这将需要时间（走出影响），需要多久，我不知道。
9.Recommend some movies or books you have seen this year (or a poem), you can briefly explain why.
there is no specific movies or books. I was focused in daily news. I was worried we from development country can handle the worse situation that we saw in aboard.

没有具体的电影或书籍，我在关注每日新闻。我担心我们发展中国家能否应付我们在国外看到的糟糕状况。
10.Have you ever imagined what human life would be like after the end of COVID-19 pandemic?
We had faced earthquake in 2015 and handle it. so, I think it will take time to recover economically. and in one think we were much developed in virtually. This will benefit whole nation and world.

我们曾在2015年遭遇地震，应付它带来的后果。所以我认为经济复苏需要时间。有一种观点认为我们在虚拟世界里发展得很快，这将对整个国家和世界带来助益。

about the artist
Prithvi Shrestha is a visual artist based in Kathmandu,Nepal. He has shown five solo shows. He has received several awards for his outstanding performance in art among that, international Comic strip, Bangkok 2001, The World Bank South Asia Region and the World Bank Art Program USA 2012, Araniko youth Award 2017 and Himalayan Light Art Scholarship 2017. He is Founder of Bindu space for artists. He has coordinated various National and International art events.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I grown-up in ritual and social cultural environment so my work is based on social, cultural and varying relationship issues. I have been practicing painting, performance art and installation art. These all are just medium for me to create different art forms. While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my methodology is consistent to share my thoughts and ideas. I believe we all live in natural life and culture but following dark to bright life shaded life.
I use symbols to express all these things in my work. Everything is very important for me like ritual symbols or technological signs. I am impressing with sound of this advance life. Everywhere sound express vital role in our life so in my performance art I use different sounds.
I found art everywhere so I tried to copy natural art in my created art.

普里斯维·什雷斯塔是尼泊尔加德满都的视觉艺术家。他已经举办了五次个展。他因在艺术方面的杰出表现获得了多项奖项，其中包括：国际连环画奖、曼谷2001、世界银行南亚地区和世界银行艺术项目美国2012、阿拉尼科青年奖2017和喜马拉雅莱特艺术奖学金2017。Prithvi Shrestha是宾都艺术家空间的创始人。他协调了各种国内和国际艺术活动。
艺术家自我陈述：我是在礼仪和社会文化环境中长大的，所以我的作品是以社会、文化和各种关系问题为基础。我一直在练习绘画、行为艺术和装置艺术，这些都是我创作不同艺术形式的媒介。虽然我在每个项目中使用了不同的材料和流程，但我的方法论是一致的，以分享我的想法和理念。我相信我们都生活在自然和文化中，但从黑暗到光明的生活，给生活蒙上了阴影。
在我的作品中，我用符号来表达所有这些想法。一切对我来说都很重要，比如仪式符号或技术符号。生活中的声音给我留下了深刻的印象，无处不在的声音表达着我们生活中的重要角色，所以在我的行为艺术中，我使用不同的声音。我认为艺术无处不在，我试图在创作中复制来自自然的艺术。

About Bindu space for artists
Bindu, space for artists is non-profitable registered organization, an alternative art space which particularly initiates new art forms and various activities related to it and active since 2006. Bindu is a gathering of artists committed in bringing together various aspects of fine arts to materialize a common ground for innovative art practitioners to share and develop imaginative concepts and visions.
Bindu space for artists is working in different form of art and organized several art program like artist residency, art workshop (painting, printmaking and video), artist presentation national and international performance art program, collaboration with other organizations and coordinate many program.

宾都Bindu，一个为艺术家成立的空间，非营利注册组织，一个特别发起的为新艺术形式和与之相关的各种活动的替代空间，自2006年以来一直非常活跃。宾都是一个艺术家聚会的地方，致力于将艺术各个方面汇聚在一起，为创新的艺术从业者提供一个共同点，分享和发展富有想象力的概念和愿景。
